DUNHEVED COLLEGE 4-3 ROYAL BOROUGH

BY ATHLETE
I hear that Dunheved College football team defeated the Royal Borough club on Tuesday afternoon on the town team’s ground in the final for the Launceston and District competition by 4 goals to 3.
The College and the Boroughites were the only clubs to enter for this cup, and three splendidly contested games have been witnesses between them. The College won the first match by 2-1, the Royal Borough the second game by 3-2, and the third meeting ended as stated above. It will be noticed the cup winners are only one goal (8 to 7) better than the losing team on the three games played.
In a neat little speech Mr J.I. Knill presented the trophy to the College skipper.
Newspaper report January 1909 Enthusiasm in football at Launceston appears to be flagging. The Secretary of the District League has on two occasions this week got a team together, but the Clarets have failed to turn out a team. We trust those concerned will make an effort and not let the good old game die in the Royal Borough.
