1923 LAUNCESTON K.O CUP Final

STOKE CLIMSLAND 2-1 COADS GREEN

CUP PRESENTATION

On Saturday Coad's Green were at home to Stoke Climsland and fine weather prevailing a fair number of spectators were present.
The visitors played a most strenuous game throughout, and in the end came out winners by 2 goals to 1, a result which they well deserved. On the form Stoke showed, Coad's Green may consider themselves lucky that a greater number of goals were not scored against them.
Mr. G. Oke of Launceston (county official referee), most ably officiated.
By winning this match, Stoke Climsland will be presented with a set of medals, and they are to be congratulated upon their position in the League, this season being the first occasion on which they have competed.

This match also provided an occasion for the presentation of the cup [League Cup winners probably] to Coad's Green, by Rev. W, G. Luke, and received by Mr. Ollett of behalf of Coad's Green, who this season have had most successful run, having secured 15 out of a possible 16 points.

An achievement like this reflects much credit upon the players and those responsible for its organisation and general success, when all the difficulties attendant upon a country team are considered. It appears that in Mr. Ollet, as the Club's secretary, they have alighted upon a man of the right spirit and a keen lover of clean sport.

Those interested will remember that only last year the competition was restarted and on entry Coad's Green and Launceston Juniors appeared in the final,
when the lads of Launceston won a magnificent victory over their country friends. Later a match was arranged between the cup holders and Coad's Green for medals,
which the latter won on their own ground. It is hoped that more country clubs will see their way to enter the competition next season in order to promote friendly rivalry between villages as well as between village and town.
