STOKE CLIMSLAND WINS CUP
Twice in Succession

A fine second half display enabled Stoke Climsland to win the Launceston and District Knock-out Cup when they defeated Pensilva in the final on the Launceston Town ground on Thursday week by three goals to nil.
The first half was exciting and fast without being brilliant, and although both team attacked in turn, the respective defences were on top.
Stoke had the stimulus of an early second half goal, for within a few minutes of the resumption, Burleigh, their centre-forward, scored from close range.
Their second goal came within two minutes, Phillips, receiving from a well-placed free-kick headed into the net well out of the goalkeeper's reach.
Stoke were now definitely on top and playing fine, fine forceful football, during which they found their men much better than Pensilva.
Stoke's third goal was the best of the match. Following a centre from the left wing, Burleigh headed a splendid goal, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
Stoke have now won the cup four times since the competition was inaugurated in 1927, including the last two years in succession. The cups and medals were presented to Forbes, the Stoke captain, by Rev S. Oddie of Launceston and also presented silver medal to the Pensilva players
