1974 LAUNCESTON K.O CUP Final

ST MINVER 5-0 BLISLAND

Mike Yelland
Ross Osborne
JeffKent (2)
Steve Kent

This Launceston and District K.O Cup final on Wednesday evening was not so one-sided as the score may suggest. Blisland had their fair share of the exchanges but couldn't break down a well drilled St Minver defence, Blisland's rear-guard on the other hand seemed very vulnerable to the quick break and were forced to make errors St Minver's first two goals came from Mike Yelland and Ross Osborne who capitalised on inaccurate clearances.
Before half time Jeff Kent gave the Saints a commanding three-goal lead. Ray butler the St Minver 'keeper, and Micky Harris for Blisland were kept busy throughout this first half.
Blisland came on more strongly in the second period but the Saints never really looked in trouble as their rear-guard were dealing capably with anything which came their way. From a break away St Minver increased their lead with a good goal from Steve Kent and it wasn't long before Jeff Kent got another to put the tie beyond all doubt.
Indeed St Minver should have had a sixth goal but Micky Harris saved a penalty kick Blisland tried hard until the end but St Minver's better team-work kept their goal intact and they ran out worthy winners of the cup.
