1978 LAUNCESTON K.O CUP Final

BUDE TOWN 3-1 DARITE 'A'

Roger Standen (2) Gary Knight Gary Ede
Darite made all the early running in this Launceston & District K.O Cup Final at Launceston on Tuesday and it not been for Bude's keeper Bert Vickery they could have wrapped up the game in the first half.
Vickery pulled off some brilliant saves to prevent Darite from getting at least three goals but he was eventually beaten by Gary Knight's angled shot after a neat pass from Chas Wilson.
Bude were without one of their best players, midfield man Colin Stevenson, who had a back injury and his absences showed in this half.
However, the second half saw Bude coming forward for the equaliser, but they found the going hard against the quick tackling Darite defenders.
Eventually Bude’s efforts paid off with a superb goal from Roger Standen which gave Roy Lavers no chance of saving. This was the signal for more Bude efforts but the nearest they came to scoring in the 90 minutes was when they hit the crossbar.
Extra time was necessary and when there was still deadlock after he first 15 minutes it looked as if there was going to be a replay, but Bude had other ideas about this and scored two goals in as many minutes through Gary Ede and Roger Standen to take the cup.
