2013 LAUNCESTON K.O CUP Final

LC Phoenix 3-1 Altarnun

Jon Bye, Matt Brookes........... Danny Moore
Luke Williams

LC Phoenix are the 2012-13 Launceston K.O Cup winners after they saw off final rivals Altarnun3-1 at Pennygillam.
Both teams asserted themselves from the off, though the expansive pitch played into the hands of Phoenixs pacey players. It was through a set play however that they took the lead: after ten minutes a Nathan Cox corner found its way via the keeper to the feet of John Bye, who shot home with his left foot. Altarnun were still very much in the game and Danny Moore soon levelled matters with a fine side footed finish from 18 yards following some good build up play by Stuart Cole.
It appeared as though matters would be level at half time , enter Matthew Brookes, he confidently stroked home after neat interplay between Bye, Nathan Cox, and Harry Marsh flowing the length of the field giving his side an invaluable advantage at the break. A committed second half from both sides could have seen the the tire go either way, but with the legs tiring and a number of substitutions changing the games dynamic Luke Williams stepped in to wrap things up for Phoenix. He ran onto a left wing ball and although fortunate to round Daniel Parsons in the Altarnun goal steadied himself to score from an acute angle. So Phoenix win the Launceston Cup for the first time.
