2014 LAUNCESTON K.O CUP Final

PENSILVA 2-0 ALTARNUN

Jon Filbey, Sam Carter

Pensilva won the Cup with a competent display against a youthful Altarnun side; the Duchy League leaders and favourites were too strong for their opponents and won the cup for the fourth time in their history.
Both sides battled well in the first half without really creating clear cut chances until the 35th minute when Jon Filbey was sent clear down the left and he managed to outpace the Altarnun defence before cutting back inside and his powerful low shot found the net despite Daniel Parsons attempt at blocking the close range shot.
After the break Pensilva increased their advantage when Sam Rogers made a run down the left and crossed the ball for Sam Carter to side foot home from 10 yards, this effectively finished the game as a contest for despite Altarnun putting in a worthy performance they struggled to pose a threat to the Pensilva defence superbly marshalled by Man of the Match Dylan Peel. Pensilva had a couple of further chances but could not increase their lead and were comfortable winners.
The Cup was presented to Pensilva captain Dylan Peel by Cup President Brian Conyon MBE in front of crowd of around 190
This year the competition committee were presented with a Shield by Mike Sandercock and family to be given to the Runners up as a Memorial to his late wife Pam. The shield was hand crafted by Brian Buckley, Pam Sandercocks brother and the committee are very grateful to Mike for his kind donation.
